Reza Moridi, MPP, Richmond Hill, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities
Moridi was appointed by Premier Dalton McGuinty as the Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities. He was also appointed to the Cabinet Committee on Economy, Environment and Resources Policy. Prior to his election, Moridi was the Vice-President and Chief Scientist of the Radiation Safety Institute of Canada. He has held a senior executive position in the electrical industry where he conducted business internationally with leading corporations. Moridi has also worked as a professor and administrator in the academic field. Moridi’s work has been honored with two prestigious awards, including one from the Canadian Nuclear Society recognizing his work in promoting radiation protection and safety. He also received an award from the Health Physics Society in the US for his contributions to Health Physics. Educated in the UK, Moridi obtained a PhD from Brunel University. He has completed CANDU Reactor, Industrial Management and Reactor Health Physics certificate courses. He is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology, the Institute of Physics and Health Physics Society.
